BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Host Bridgewater College used a big second half run to key an 80-57 ODAC men's basketball victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.
Bridgewater (10-6, 4-3) broke open a two-point, 33-31, game with a 21-4 run over a span of 8:50 at the start of the second half.
Junior Kevin Lecsaint bookended that run for the Hornets (3-13, 0-7), hitting a layup at 19:20 to make it 33-31 and then making a free throw at 10:02 to make it 52-38.
Unfortunately for SU, the Eagles reeled off the next 11 points in a span of 2:23 to extend the lead to 25 points.
Shenandoah would get no closer than 23 points the rest of the way.
Sophomore Jared Carithers paced the Hornets with 16 points while junior Bryce Mitchell added 15, all in the first half.
Kenneth Waugh had 15 points and Ronnie Thomas 10 for the hosts.
Bridgewater had a 45-32 advantage on the glass.
Shenandoah is back in action at home on Saturday with a 4:00 game against Lynchburg.
