YORK, Pa. – Shenandoah University earned its second straight non-league softball doubleheader sweep with a pair of wins over York College of Pennsylvania Monday afternoon.
The Hornets (8-6) were 6-3 winners in the opener before taking game two, 5-3, in eight innings over the Spartans (4-10).
In game one, junior Stephanie Cameron (6-1) took a perfect game into the sixth and struck out nine to post the victory.
Cameron allowed three unearned runs on three hits in 6.0 innings of work before Brianne Morlock worked a scoreless seventh.
Cameron's classmate, Erica Kondzielawa, led the offense with a 2 for 3 day that included an RBI and one run scored.
Kimmy Brady was 1 for 2 and had a leadoff home run in the fourth.
SU took a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning of the nightcap only to see YCP send it into extra innings thanks to a leadoff triple followed by a fielder's choice.
The Hornets won it with in the eighth with a pair of unearned runs. Emily Wilson put the ball in play to score Erica Kondzielawa and Morgan Coble, who had reached on a double and a single, respectively.
Freshman Megan Tripp (2-1) won the game with 5.0 innings of relief work. She allowed two runs on two hits and four walks while striking out two.
Coble, Kondzielawa, Wilson and Heather Sink all had two hits to lead the offense.
Shenandoah hosts Castleton (Vt.) State on Wednesday in a noon non-league doubleheader.
