SWEET BRIAR, Va. - The Shenandoah University softball team opened up its inaugural ODAC doubleheader with two shutout victories over Sweet Briar.
The Hornets (9-6, 2-0 ODAC) were 14-0 winners in the opener before taking the nightcap 17-0 over the Vixens (0-4, 0-2).
The game one victory makes the softball team the first SU squad to win its initial ODAC contest.
Coach Marlena Kotynski's squad used strong starts in both ends of the doubleheader to quickly take control.
In game one, it was six runs on five hits. In game two, the Hornets scored five runs on five hits and one SBC error.
Shenandoah had a combined 30 hits in the two games, including six from Brittany Guepe and three each by Kimberly Brady, Erica Kondzielawa, Denise Mitchell and Ashley Crawford.
Morgan Coble drove in four runs on the day.
Stephanie Cameron (7-1) struck out eight in three innings of work in the opener and combined with Brianne Morlock to throw a no-hitter.
Megan Tripp (2-1) and Jordan Wolford combined to throw a three-hitter in the nightcap.
Every starter registered at least one hit.
The Hornets host Castleton (Vt.) State on Thursday at noon.
