VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Host Virginia Wesleyan kept its ODAC softball record perfect on the season with a pair of victories over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.
The Marlins (18-4, 6-0 ODAC) erased a 1-0 deficit early in the opener to down the Hornets 5-1 and then were 8-3 winners in the nightcap.
Junior Stephanie Cameron (10-3) took the game one loss for SU (15-11, 5-5). She had five strikeouts and allowed five runs on six hits and one walk.
Morgan Coble and Emily Wilson had the lone hits for the visitors in the opener.
In game two, senior Lauren McCabe had a two-run double in the fourth and freshman Kimberly Brady was 3 for 3 with two doubles and a single.
Senior Jordan Wolford (0-2), the third of three pitchers for the Hornets, took the loss.
Wolford gave up two runs on three hits in one inning of work.
Brittany Guepe had the remaining hit for coach Marlena Kotynski's club.
Shenandoah is off until traveling to Bridgewater on Friday for an ODAC doubleheader beginning at noon.
