WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 25/25 Shenandoah University bounced back Thursday with a 21-4 non-league baseball victory over visiting Wesley.
The Hornets (20-8) banged out a season-high 25 hits in the blowout win over Wesley (16-12).
Shenandoah, which has reached the 20-win mark for the 10th consecutive season with the triumph, blew the game open with a nine-run seventh.
SU sent 15 men to the plate in the frame and all nine hitters reached base safely at least once in the inning.
Billy Arens had two hits in the seventh – a two-run single to center on his first appearance and then an RBI single to left on his second.
Sophomore Michael Paul had a three-run shot to right in his only plate appearance to match Arens three RBI.
All nine starters had at least one hit in the contest with Arens leading the way on a 4 for 5 day. Paul had four RBI, Dan Powers and Arens three and both Andrew Creamer and J.J. McDaniel drove in a pair.
Sophomore T.J. Campbell, the first of three Shenandoah pitchers, earned the win. Campbell (1-1) gave up one run on six hits and two walks in 6.0 innings of work.
Andrew Zarobila pitched the seventh and eighth with Steven Walker finishing up in the ninth.
SU led 7-1 heading into the seventh after scoring three runs in the first, three in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Powers got matters started with a two-run dinger in the first.
The Hornets had 23 players appear in the contest.
Shenandoah continues this homestand on Saturday with a 1:00 ODAC doubleheader against Lynchburg.
