WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 12 Washington and Lee University scored opening 10 goals of the game Wednesday night on its way to a 14-3 ODAC men's lacrosse victory over host Shenandoah.
The Generals (12-3, 6-2 ODAC) held Shenandoah (5-10, 0-8) scoreless for the opening 40:45 of the contest as they took the 10-0 advantage.
Freshman Nick Rondeau snapped the string for the Hornets with an unassisted goal at 4:15 before W&L tallied twice in a 40-second span to close out the third quarter.
The two teams then split four goals in the fourth.
Freshman Colin Fowler had the first of the two SU goals, off of a Jeff Geddis assist at 8:32, before Sean Ohlhaver finished off a Bryan Pope feed at 6:10.
Washington & Lee, which had 10 different men register at least one point, outshot its hosts 57-21 and had a 55-33 advantage in groundballs.
The Generals also won 15 of 20 faceoffs and were 23 of 24 on clears.
Senior Tyler Quinn had 11 saves in the losing effort for the Hornets.
Dom Lombardi paced the defense with seven groundballs.
Shenandoah completes its season on Saturday with a 4:00 ODAC game against Lynchburg.
