Men Outlast Wasps

EMORY, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's basketball team snapped its three-game losing streak with an 85-75 ODAC win at Emory and Henry Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (11-5, 3-5 ODAC) led throughout in completing the sweep of the season series with the Wasps (2-15, 0-8).

The Hornets scored the initial eight points of the contest, but had to hold on as E&H was able to cut the deficit to one point in the first half and to two points on two occasions in the second.

With the lead at just four, 74-70, following a Malcolm Green layup with 3:49 remaining, Shenandoah scored 11 of the game's final 16 points to seal the victory.

Guards Jared Carithers and Avery Green, who led all scorers with 20 and 19 points, respectively, combined to score those final 11 points.

Green had six points on a field goal and four free throws while Carithers hit one field goal and was 3 of 4 from the line.

In addition to that production, senior guard Bryce Mitchell had 14 points off the bench.

Mitchell had 10 points in the opening stanza.

SU shot 57 percent for the game and had a 36-32 advantage on the glass.

Shenandoah returns home on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ODAC contest against Eastern Mennonite.
