Men End with Victory

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team completed its season Wednesday night with a 2-0 ODAC victory over visiting Randolph-Macon.

The win pushes Shenandoah (5-12-1, 2-8-1 ODAC) past the Yellow Jackets (4-13, 2-9) for 10th place in the league standings.

The fifth win of the season also matches the combined win total of the past three seasons.

Nate Long scored what proved to be the game-winner as his header of a Jonathan Mitchell pass snuck just inside the left post in the 75th minute.

With 17 seconds left in the extremely physical contest, SU was awarded a direct kick just outside the 18-yard box.

Seamus Doherty took full advantage, ripping his waist-high shot past Macon keeper Michael Bly for the final goal of the game.

The Hornets played the final 11 minutes with a man advantage as R-MC was issued the first of its two red cards at the 79:02 mark.

Following the final whistle, an additional red was issued to the 'Jackets.

Shenandoah outshot its visitors 12-5 while Macon took three of the game's four corners.

The 2015 SU schedule will be announced in early spring.
