Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men Drop Heartbreaker

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Randolph College made the most of the 10th and final league change of the game to down host Shenandoah 63-62 in ODAC men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.

In a game that featured 10 lead changes and three ties, Zach Desgain hit a driving layup with 11 seconds remaining to give Randolph (4-2, 1-1 ODAC) the win over Shenandoah (1-6, 0-2).

The Hornets took the last shot, with freshman Henry Sorsaia getting a good look from the right baseline with three seconds remaining, but his shot bounced off the front rim and Jason Eddie was able to corral the rebound for the 'Cats.

Desgain's layup, which came off of a perfect bounce pass from Joe Sands, capped a stretch in which the two teams traded the lead six times and were tied once in the final 73 seconds.

Trailing by 13 points following an Eddie 3-pointer with 9:39 left, Shenandoah roared back into it with an 18-4 run over 7:14 to take a 58-57 lead following a Jared Carithers jumper with 1:13 left

Desgain hit a pair of free throws to swap the lead for a second time before Carithers', the leading scorer in the ODAC, hit a layup to put SU back on top.

Desgain again came back, hitting a runner in the lane with 32 seconds remaining only to see Malcolm Clark convert for the Hornets 12 seconds later.

Desgain banked in the eventual game-winner following a time-out and was fouled on the play, but could not convert the and-one opportunity.

SU immediately came down and found Sorsaia in front of his own bench, but the clean shot was just short and Randolph escaped with the one-point win.

Clark paced Shenandoah with 14 points while Xavier Alston had 11 and Brandon Pressley 10.

Desgain led all scorers with 15 points.

Shenandoah is now off for final exams and returns to action on Monday, December 15 with a non-league game at Elizabethtown.
