Softball Swept at Randolph

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Shenandoah University opened up its 2014 ODAC softball slate Saturday afternoon by dropping a pair of contests at Randolph.

Shenandoah (1-8, 0-2 ODAC) fell 5-0 in the opener before Randolph (12-5, 2-0) was a 10-2 winner in the nightcap.

Game two was five innings due to the NCAA mercy rule.

Senior Morgan Coble had two of the Hornets four hits in game one with Brittany Guepe and Karli Rorabaugh adding one each.

Logan Carter (5-3) earned the win for RC, scattering those four hits and striking out nine.

Megan Tripp (1-4) took the loss for SU. She gave up the five runs (just two earned) on nine hits and one walk. 

Tripp struck out one.

Coach Marlena Kotynski's club jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the nightcap, scoring the two runs on two hits in the first, but gave up six runs in the second.

The 'Cats then scored four runs in the fifth to end the game early.

Lisa Mitro (0-2) took the loss after giving up six runs on five hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings of work.

Lindsay Corbin and Helen Good finished up, with Corbin pitching 3.0 innings and striking out one.

Guepe, Coble, Ashlyn Drake, Megan Rion and Rorabaugh had one hit each with Rorabaugh driving in both runs on a single through the left side.

Shenandoah continues this road trip tomorrow with an 11 a.m. doubleheader at Lynchburg.
