Messiah Sweeps Softball

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Messiah College took advantage of eight Shenandoah University errors to sweep the Hornets in a non-conference doubleheader Thursday afternoon.

The Falcons (17-5) were 3-1 winners in the opener before taking the nightcap 4-1 over SU (8-17).

Sophomore Megan Tripp (4-8) scattered nine hits and only allowed two earned runs in the game one loss.

The Hornets were held to seven hits, including two each from Brittany Guepe and Kimberly Brady.

Shenandoah left nine women on base in game one.

Messiah secured the sweep with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth off of game two starter Lindsay Corbin (1-7).

The two teams had traded runs in the third.

Corbin allowed the four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk.

Brady had the hosts only game two hit, driving in Ashlyn Drake with a third inning triple.

SU is back in action on Saturday at noon in an ODAC doubleheader against Emory and Henry.
