WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University softball team tossed a pair of shutouts Sunday afternoon on its way to an ODAC doubleheader sweep of visiting Sweet Briar.
The Hornets (10-19, 8-8 ODAC) celebrated the second of two senior days this weekend with 10-0 and 3-0 victories over the Vixens (4-19, 0-14).
Game one was halted after five innings.
SU scored one run in the first, two in the second, six in the third and one more in the fourth to earn the victory.
Freshman Lindsay Corbin (2-7) went the distance, allowing just one hit while striking out four.
Brittany Guepe and Morgan Coble both drove in two runs with Guepe getting two of the team's nine hits.
Megan Tripp (5-9) was the game two winner, tossing 5.0 innings in relief of Lisa Mitro.
Tripp struck out six and did not walk a batter.
Guepe and Kimberly Brady each had two hits with Brady, Heather Sink and Erica Kondzielawa driving in runs.
Shenandoah scored two runs in the third and one in the fourth to put itself on top to stay.
The Hornets step out of conference on Tuesday to play at Mary Washington.
