LEXINGTON, Va. – Shenandoah University completed its 2014 men's lacrosse season with a 21-6 ODAC loss to No. 20 Washington and Lee Wednesday evening.
The Generals (10-5, 7-1 ODAC) took total control of the contest with a 16-goal run from the 2:24 mark of the first until the 14:53 remained in the contest.
Freshman Stephen LaTona bookended that streak for the Hornets (6-11, 2-7), scoring off of a Drew Brooks assist at 5:30 of the first and then off of another Brooks feed at 14:24 of the fourth.
The latter goal came on extra man.
W&L answered that second LaTona goal with tallies at 12:18 and 11:20 before the Hornets scored four of the game's final five goals.
Brooks had a natural hat trick on this run with Aaron Paul capping it off with an unassisted goal 1:56 before the final horn.
The 10 points scored (six goals, four assists) allowed coach Tim Marshall's club to break the school record for points in a season.
Shenandoah scored a total of 243 points this year, including 151 goals.
The hosts had a 65-16 advantage in shots, won 25 of 30 faceoffs and owned a 63-28 advantage in groundballs.
SU goalie Ben Judy had 18 saves in the losing effort.
The Hornets 2015 schedule will be announced this summer.
