WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team earned its second straight victory Saturday afternoon with 2-0 non-conference win at Washington & Jefferson.
The Hornets (2-1) scored a pair of early goals to key the victory over the Presidents (3-1).
Junior Sarah Brock scored the opening goal of the contest for the victors, finishing off a feed from senior Ashley Cross, before freshman Morgan Lingo knocked home a rebound in the 11th minute.
Brock's game-winner, which ended a play that started with her penalty corner insertion, came just 4:08 into the contest.
The Hornet defense was again outstanding, holding W&J without a shot on goal and to just five shots overall.
SU goalkeeper Jenna Rampale has now recorded two straight shutouts without having to make a save.
The Hornets outshot their hosts 12-5 and owned an 8-3 advantage in penalty corners.
