ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Shenandoah University volleyball team completed its play Saturday at the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College by dropping a pair of matches in the championship bracket.
Shenandoah (6-2) opened the day with a 3-1 loss to Allegheny before falling 3-0 to host Muhlenberg.
The Allegheny match was a close one as SU dropped 26-24 and 25-19 decisions in the opening two sets before winning at 23 in the third.
The Gators then closed it out with a victory at 12 in the fourth.
Muhlenberg, which went undefeated for the tournament, won at 16, 22 and 12 over SU in the final match of the tournament.
Elizabeth Lamont and Rachel Gross paced the Hornets against MC with five kills each while Allie Pieper added four in earning an All-Tournament nod.
Brandi Griffith paced the defense with 11 digs.

Shenandoah is back in action on Tuesday at PSU-Altoona in a 7 p.m. non-league match.
