Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Wasps Outlast Men

EMORY, Va. – Host Emory and Henry earned its first ODAC men's basketball victory of the season with an 81-76 win over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

The Wasps (2-11, 1-3 ODAC) held Shenandoah (1-12, 0-4) without a field goal over the final 6:28 of the contest to earn the victory over the Hornets.

SU held a three-point lead following a Malcolm Clark layup with 6:28 to play, but could only manage seven points, all from the charity stripe, down the stretch as E&H took the victory.

The Wasps took the lead for good by answering that Clark layup with nine straight points over the next 2:36 of game action – Clark finally stopped the bleeding with a pair of free throws at 2:31, but the deficit proved too large.

The Hornets were able to make it a  one-possession contest thanks to a 7-3 run over a span of 2:18 but missed a crucial 3-point attempt in the waning seconds and then saw E&H make 3 of 4 from the line in the final 12 seconds to seal the win.

Clark and Antwan Pittman each had a co-game-high 20 points for the visitors with Myles Turner doing the same for Emory & Henry.

Pittman's eight rebounds helped SU hold a 33-31 advantage on the class.

The Wasps shot 51 percent from the field (27 of 53) to the Hornets 39 percent (21 of 54).

Shenandoah is back in action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. home game against nationally ranked Virginia Wesleyan.
