WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University volleyball team wrapped up its most successful ODAC slate in four seasons of league play by downing Hollins 3-1 Thursday evening.
The Hornets (18-9, 7-4 ODAC) shook off a 25-21 Hollins victory in the opening set to win at 10, 21 and 10 in sets two through four.
Hollins (3-20, 0-11) took advantage of seven SU errors while hitting .368 to win the opening set.
Shenandoah, which hit .283 for the match and a match-high .444 in the second, dominated in the second and fourth sets.
The Hornets never trailed in the second, and after an Allie Pieper kill made it 2-1 in the fourth, held the lead for the remainder of that set as well.
Junior Jasmine Callahan served the last eight points of the contest for the victors and had three of her four service aces during the run as well as the match-clinching kill.
Pieper, who along with Blake Parkes was honored prior to the match as part of Senior Night ceremonies, had a co-match high 13 kills.
Sophomore Elizabeth Lamont matched Pieper's kill total.
Rachel Cerretani had 31 assists and Callahan 14 to fuel the attack.
Brandi Griffith had a match-high 12 digs.
The Hornets complete regular season play tomorrow evening with a non-league match versus Catholic. This contest will be played on the Frostburg State University campus.
