WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Bridgewater College opened the ODAC football campaign with a 39-21 victory over Shenandoah Saturday night at soggy Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium.

The Eagles (3-1, 1-0 ODAC) won for the 15th time in 18 lifetime meetings with Shenandoah (3-1, 0-1) on the strength of a 24-point second half.

Leading 15-14 after a Ross Rushing to Dylan Horne 14-yard TD pass with 49 seconds remaining in the second, BC outscored SU 24-7 in the final 30 minutes to secure the victory.

The Hornets, looking to build upon their best-ever 3-0 start, answered a nine-point Bridgewater first quarter by scoring a pair of touchdown to start the second.

Junior Cedrick Delaney, who cracked the 100-yard mark for the third straight game, scored both TDs.

At the 9:42 mark, Delaney scored from 17-yards out on a 4th and 3 before plunging over from the 1 with 3:27 to play in the stanza.

That second TD was also on fourth down and was set up by a Josh White 75-yard punt return.

Shenandoah finished the evening 6 of 8 on fourth down.

The Eagles, who took a early 2-0 lead thanks to a blocked punt that went out of the back of the end zone, got 108 yards rushing from quarterback Ross Rushing, had 197 of their 340 yards in total offense on the ground.

SU had 329 yards in total offense with 191 of that total coming through the air.

Hornets quarterback Hayden Bauserman was 15 of 32 for 140 yards and one touchdown against three interceptions.

Bauserman's TD pass, to Michael Ashwell with 5:27 to play, closed the book on the hosts' scoring for the evening.

Michael Messick had a game-high 16 tackles with Micheal Wroble adding 12 for coach Scott Yoder's squad.

White had an interception on a two-point conversion in addition to his big punt return.

Javonte Rose also picked off a pass.

Shenandoah is back in action next Saturday in a 1:00 kickoff at Guilford.
