WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team earned its second straight victory with a 9-7 non-league win over Frostburg State Tuesday afternoon.
Shenandoah (2-1) rallied from a three-goal deficit and held FSU (0-1) to just one goal in the second half to secure the victory.
After Frostburg used a 3-0 from the 19:43 to 15:21 marks of the first to take a 4-1 lead, SU reeled off four straight to take its first lead, 5-4, with 3:13 remaining in the first.
Freshmen Annie McCorry and Cortney Gensemer sandwiched a pair of Liz Bereit tallies to give the Hornets that one goal advantage.
The Bobcats answered back with a two-goal run to finish the half and take a 6-5 lead into the break.
The two teams played a scoreless initial 17:18 of the second before Bereit completed a hat trick by converting a free position goal with 12:42 remaining.
Shenandoah would never trail again.
Barely two minutes later, Bereit put her club on top by converting a Sabina Rasoulov feed before FSU tied matters once again on Charlotte Hines free position with 9:07 remaining.
Bereit, who became the fourth leading goal scorer this afternoon with her final tally, set junior Miranda Rudacille up for the game-winner at 7:25.
Bereit's final goal of the game, at 5:10 on a free position, gave her both the No. 4 spot all-time in both goals and points as well as providing an insurance tally.
SU outshot its visitors 26-17, won 12 of 18 draw controls and had a 24-18 advantage in groundballs.
Frostburg goalkeeper Dylan Teitelbaum kept her side in it with 12 saves.
Shenandoah is now off until traveling to Marymount for a non-league game one week from tomorrow.
