GRANTHAM, Pa. - Host Messiah College swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Shenandoah Wednesday afternoon, winning 3-0 and 8-3.
Sophomore Lindsay Corbin threw a four-hitter in the opener, but was left on the short end of a 3-0 decision.
Corbin (2-9) scattered the four hits over 6.0 innings of work, but Messiah (22-7) made them count with one run in the second and two in the third to down SU (9-21).
The Hornets banged out seven hits of their own, including two each from Megan Vanderburgh and Kimberly Brady, but left eight runners on base.
Shenandoah had runners in scoring position in the first, second, fifth and sixth innings.
In the nightcap, the Falcons scored one run in the first and four in the third off of game two starter Lisa Mitro (5-7).
Mitro allowed the eight runs (six earned) on 14 hits and two walks.
Cassie Green led the offense with three hits and Nicole Pierson added two with a pair of RBIs.
SU is back in action on Saturday in an ODAC doubleheader against Emory and Henry.
