Lynchburg Tops Men's Lax

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team saw its season come to an end with a 20-8 ODAC loss to No. 5 Lynchburg.

Lynchburg (15-2, 9-0 ODAC) scored 13 of the game's initial 14 goals to pull away from Shenandoah (4-12, 0-9).

LC had a 5-0 lead by the time the game was eight minutes only and led 10-1 at the end of the first.

Junior Connor Bishop scored the hosts first goal as he redirected a Jack Greaney feed at the 3:43 mark of the first.

Trailing 17-3 at the break, Shenandoah scored five of the final eight goals of the game to provide the final margin.

Sophomore Tilghman Sanders, who finished with a goal and three assists, had all three of his helpers in the second half to set a new program season record with 40.

Sophomore Ben Judy also set a new school season record - he had 20 stops Saturday to send his season total to 249.

This breaks the previous mark by three.

Lynchburg, which placed 15 men in the scoring column, was led by Austin Stewart's five goals and two assists and Aaron Murphy's goal and six assists.

LC outshot SU 57-24, had a 53-21 advantage in groundballs and won 28 of 32 faceoffs.

Shenandoah will announce its 2016 schedule in mid-summer.
