LEXINGTON, Va. – Top-seeded Washington and Lee eliminated Shenandoah University from the 2016 ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament with a 5-2 semi-final round victory Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (13-7-1) and the Generals (14-3-1) traded the first four goals of the game, with Kelsie Luddington and Averi Rosena scoring for the Hornets, but W&L had an answer.

The Generals scored the final three goals of the game, tallying at 63:59, 76:13 and 78:45 to advance to the tournament championship.

Luddington's goal, with knotted the game at 1-1, came unassisted at 31:03 as she collected a loose ball in the box, turned and knocked her shot into the middle of the net.

After the hosts took a 2-1 lead into the halftime break thanks to a Danielle Spickard goal at 40:28, Rosena brought the contest back to level once again with an unassisted goal at 57:22.

Standing at the top of the 18, Rosena slotted her shot into the corner to make it 2-2 just 12 minutes into the second.

Caroline Peters scored what proved to the game-winner on a header at 63:59.

W&L outshot SU 17-4 and had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicsk.

Erin Septer had five saves in her final game in an SU uniform.

"I just want to thank the seniors for four great years," Hornets coach Liz Pike said. "Kelsie and Averi had two great efforts for goals today, but Washington and Lee was too much for us to handle up front. We had a great season."

The senior class graduates with a 45-31-5 overall record and four appearances in the ODAC Tournament semi-finals.

Shenandoah will announce its 2017 schedule in January.
