WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team completed its pre-Christmas schedule with a 60-44 non-league loss to Marymount Monday afternoon.
The Saints (7-2) led throughout, scoring the first 12 points of the game and taking a 20-6 lead by the end of the first.
Freshman Sarah Donley broke that opening scoreless string for the Hornets (3-7) with the first of her two 3-pointers at the 5:48 mark of the opening stanza.
Marymount answered Donley's '3' by scoring the game's next eight points and 12 of the next 15 to expand its lead to 18 points with 7:25 to play in the second.
Over the final 20 minutes, the MU pushed its lead out to 28 points before Shenandoah closed out the contest by scoring 16 of the final 20 points to provide the final margin of victory.
Freshman Jordan Sondrol paced the hosts with 13 points with Donley adding eight.
Erin French had a team-high eight rebounds.
Nicole Viscuso led the victors with 17 points with Kiki Laux adding 11 points and seven rebounds.
Marymount had a 36-28 advantage on the glass and shot 47 percent to 31 percent for the Hornets.
The Shenandoah bench scored 23 of the squad's 44 points.
SU is now off for Christmas break and returns to action on December 29 with a 6 p.m. non-league home game versus Gettysburg.
