Men's Hoops Falls in Overtime

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Host N.C. Wesleyan hit four 3-pointers and its first 13 free throws of overtime on its way to a 95-91 men's basketball victory over Shenandoah Saturday in the final game of the Roger Taylor Classic.

Senior Malcolm Clark, who was named to the All-Classic team after scoring 54 points in the two games, sent the contest into overtime by nailing a 3-pointer with 3.2 seconds remaining in regulation.

Clark's fall-away '3' capped off a 22-11 SU run over the final 6:36 of regulation.

Clark, who had 28 points in the contest, scored 10 of the Hornets 22 points in this run.

Shenandoah (4-3) scored the initial bucket of the OT, getting a Jonah Meredith layup 13 seconds into the extra session, but NCWC (5-3) had an answer.

The Bishops made 4 of 5 from behind the arc and 13 of 14 from the line to win for the 30th time in the longtime series between the two former USA South Conference rivals.

The first two of those overtime 3-pointers, by Adrian Moore and Justin Tankelewicz at 4:28 and 3:58, respectively, gave NCWC the lead for good.

Moore's '3', one of six he had on the day, changed the lead for the 14th and final time of the game.

The two teams were also tied on 10 occasions.

In addition to Clark's 28, Kaimonne Douglas had 17, Derrick Perry 12 and Dalon McHugh 11 for the Hornets.

SU shot 52 percent (32 of 62) from the field and held a 37-34 advantage on the glass.

Moore and Tankelewicz both had 26 points for the Bishops.

Shenandoah is off for the next six days due to final exams and returns to the court on Saturday, December 10 for a 2 p.m. home ODAC contest versus Randolph.
