EMORY, Va. – Host Emory and Henry College continued its strong start to the 2016-17 women's basketball season with a 103-43 ODAC victory over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.
The Wasps (5-1, 2-0 ODAC) reached the 90-point mark for the third time in the past four games (and the fourth time overall) with the win over SU (3-3, 0-2).
The victory is also the fifth straight for E&H.
Emory & Henry led throughout, took a 19-7 lead after one and held a 25-point lead by the 5:02 mark of the second.
Leading 48-18 at the half, the Wasps continued to press the action over the final 20 minutes. After the two teams split the initial 16 points of the third quarter, E&H outscored SU 14-6 over the final 5:07 of the stanza to increase its advantage 70-32 as the fourth quarter dawned.
The Wasps, thanks to a 67 percent shooting performance from both the field and from behind the arc, scored 33 of the final 44 points of the game. E&H was 6 for 9 on 3-pointers in the fourth after making just 3 of 9 attempts in the first 30 minutes.
Freshman Sarah Donley paced Shenandoah with 10 points while Erin French added six rebounds, two assists and four steals to her five points.
SU was 16 of 54 (30 percent) from the field to 57 percent (39 of 68) for Emory & Henry.
All 15 Wasps players scored at least one point in the game. Jada Penn led the victors with 14 points.
Shenandoah is right back at it with a 7 p.m. non-league game Monday night at St. Mary's of Maryland.
