Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Hoops Can't Contain Guilford

WINCHESTER, Va - The Shenandoah men's basketball squad knew it had a tough task in front of it on Saturday afternoon. Despite a valiant effort and strong second half, the Hornets (4-7, 1-11 ODAC) fell short to Guilford (12-8, 7-4) by a score of 91-60.

Consistent three-point shooting was the name of the game for the visiting Quakers. Dominique Henderson was nearly unstoppable for Guilford, connecting on six-of-six from beyond the arc and finishing the contest with 22 points.

SU had a strong start to the game. The Hornets trailed just, 7-9, at the 12:28 mark in the first half. But when the Quakers got hot, Shenandoah struggled to find an answer.

Guilford entered the halfway point with a dominating 48-24 lead.

But while Rob Pryor's bunch could have just thrown in the towel and called it a game, they continued to battle.

Despite shooting just 34.7 percent from the field for the game, SU was solid from the free throw line. The Hornets connected on 19-of-25 free throws on the day.

Henderson wasn't the only major impact player for Gilford. Alston Thompson finished the day with 16 points and five rebounds while Trever Hyatt added another 11 points.

Shenandoah was guided by Malcom Clark with 23 points. Antwan Pittman also had a solid outing adding 17 points and five rebounds.

SU will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they make the road trip to Randolph-Macon
