Baseball Tops W&L

WINCHESTER, Va. - No. 8/12 Shenandoah University earned its first ODAC baseball win of the season with a 5-1 victory over Washington and Lee Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Colin Morse scattered four hits and an unearned run over 7.0 innings to push the Hornets (11-4, 1-2 ODAC) past W&L (14-8, 2-3).

Morse (3-0) struck out seven before turning in over to seniors Ryan Mossman and Philip Morse for the eighth and ninth, respectively.

Both Mossman and the elder Morse allowed one hit and struck out one in their only inning of work.

Phillip Morse' strikeout ended the contest.

The SU offense gave Colin Morse all of the support he would need with three runs in the first and two more in the third.

Tristian Baker got matters started with a single followed by an Abel Arocho double into the right-center gap that put runners on second and third for Jake Loew.

Loew's double to left plated Baker and Arocho scored on a Dan Cameron sacrifice fly to right.

Loew made it 3-0 by trotting home on a Kyle Tinning (2-2) wild pitch.

In the third, John Wilt had a two-run single to score both Arocho and Loew.

Wilt finished the day 3 for 4 with Loew getting two hits in four at-bats.

Tinning went the distance, allowing the five runs on seven hits and four walks. He struck out five.

Shenandoah continues ODAC play on Saturday at Guilford.
