WESTMINSTER, Md. - The McDaniel Green Terror swept a non-league softball doubleheader from Shenandoah Tuesday afternoon.
McDaniel (16-10) was a 10-5 victor in game one before completing the sweep over SU (8-20) with a 13-5 win the nightcap.
Game two was halted in the bottom of the sixth after the Green Terror increased their lead to eight runs.
In game one, McDaniel scored eight runs in the first three innings to take a commanding lead and coast home to the 10-5 victory.
Shenandoah answered back with two runs each in the fourth and fifth, getting the first two on a Megan Wilk two-run shot down the right field line, but could not completely erase the deficit.
Lindsay Corbin and Kristen Weadon drove in runs in the fifth, Corbin on a single to right and Weadon on a groundout, while Karli Rohrbaugh accounted for the final run thanks to a solo HR to center in the seventh.
Weadon, Wilk, Rohrbaugh and Ashlyn Drake all had two hits in the contest.
Corbin (3-10) pitched the first two innings and allowed six runs on eight hits and three walks.
Kimberly Brady had a solo home run in the fifth inning of game two to tie the contest at 2-2 only to see the Terror break matters wide open with six runs in the bottom of the frame and another five in the sixth.
Brady had two of the Hornets six hits in game two with Courtney Topper driving in a pair.
Carrie Robinson (4-10) allowed seven runs (five earned) on eight hits and seven walks against four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of work.
Topper pitched an inning before Kayla O'Connell came on seven batters into the sixth.
Shenandoah hosts its fellow ODAC Hornets, the Lynchburg Hornets, on Wednesday in a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
