WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team wrapped up its 2016 season Saturday afternoon with a 12-8 ODAC loss to Bridgewater.
Playing on Senior Day, Shenandoah (4-12, 0-9 ODAC) saw Bridgewater (7-9, 2-7) rally from a two-goal with a big run at the end of the third quarter.
The Hornets led, 5-3, following an Ryan Schott unassisted goal at 11:55 of the third, but BC answered right off the ensuing faceoff and then tied it at 7:26.
Junior Stephen LaTona would put the hosts back up with his goal at 5:39 only to see Bridgewater answer yet again.
The Eagles scored the game's next three goals, taking an 8-6 lead 25 seconds into the fourth.
Shenandoah, behind LaTona and Schott goals at 10:52 and 8:10, brought the game back to even, but could not retake the lead.
Bridgewater sealed the victory by scoring the final four goals of the contest.
Blake Mann put the visitors on top to stay with his goal off of a Sean Nevin assist with 7:20 remaining.
The contest was extremely even in all other aspects - Shenandoah held a 32-30 advantage in shots, the two teams split 38 groundballs and Bridgewater won 13 of the 23 faceoffs.
SU goalkeeper Ben Judy had 14 saves with Eagles goalie Andrew Buss making 12 stops.
Shenandoah will announce its 2017 schedule this summer.
