FROSTBURG, Md. - Host Frostburg State pounded out a combined 22 hits in sweeping a non-league softball doubleheader from Shenandoah Wednesday afternoon.
The Bobcats (18-6) were 5-2 winners in the opener before taking the nightcap, 10-2, in six innings over the Hornets (6-18).
Shenandoah had home runs in each end of the double-dip - Haley Koeninger had a solo shot in the fourth inning of game one with Karli Rorabaugh doing the same in the first inning of game two.
Rorabaugh was 2 for 3 with two RBI in that second game. She drove in Kimberly Brady with a single up the middle in the third that proved to be the Hornets final run of the contest.
SU had seven hits in each game with Megan Vanderburgh and Kayla O'Connell getting two hits each in the opener.
Lindsay Corbin (3-8) took the loss in game one and Carrie Robinson (4-8) in game two. Corbin allowed the five runs on 10 hits and one walk with Robinson allowing six hits on six hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings of work in game two. O'Connell pitched the final 3 2/3 in the nightcap.
Shenandoah returns home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. ODAC doubleheader versus Randolph.
