Volleyball Falls to Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's volleyball team opened its 2016 campaign Thursday night with a 3-1 non-league loss to Marymount University.

After the Hornets (0-1) took the first set 25-21, the Saints (1-0) rallied back to take the final three sets of the match at 13, 17, and 18 respectively.  

SU jumped out to a quick lead in the first set and never trailed. The host team battled back to tie it up at 21 a piece before the Hornets went on a 4-0 run to clinch the opening set.

Marymount got off to a hot start in the second set and never looked back.

Elizabeth Lamont had a game high 13 kills for Shenandoah with Kaitlin Kelley adding 10 of her own.

Jasmine Callahan and Rachel Cerretani combined for 30 assists, with Callahan having 18 of this total.

Emma Murphy led the Hornets' defensive effort with 16 digs.

Coach Terenzi's club hits the road again tomorrow and heads to Virginia Beach for the opening day of a two day tournament hosted by Virginia Wesleyan College. SU will take on former USA South foes Ferrum College at 3:00 and Meredith College at 7:00.
