WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Frostburg State University scored a pair of goals in each half to down Shenandoah, 4-1, in non-league men's soccer action Tuesday evening.
The Bobcats (5-5) took a lead they would not relinquish on a Serigne Gueye unassisted tally in the 10th minute.
After FSU expended its lead to 2-0 on a Rodrigo Valenzeula goal at 30:35, Shenandoah (0-8) cut the deficit in half on a beautiful goal in the 41st minute.
Connor Gordon, streaking down the middle of the field, found Austin McCarron on the outside just outside the 18-yard box.
McCarron drew the lone FSU defender and gave it back to Gordon, who roofed his shot from five yards out.
Frostburg expanded its lead back to two with a goal in the 79th minute before closing the book on the evening's scoring in the 83rd.
FSU outshot the Hornets 15-11 and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Six of the Bobcats seven corners came in the first half.
Keegan Fairchild made seven saves in his first start of the season.
Shenandoah returns to ODAC play on Friday night at Roanoke.
