WINCHESTER, Va. – Visiting Lynchburg College scored the only two goals of the second half on its way to a 3-1 ODAC field hockey victory over Shenandoah Sunday afternoon on the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium turf.
Jackie Lerro scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 49th minute as she redirected a cross-goal feed from Kayla Copeman for LC (12-3, 4-1 ODAC).
Lynchburg needed Lerro's goal as Shenandoah (7-7, 1-3) had brought the game back to even on a Megan Stevens goal at 24:54.
Stevens corralled a loose ball in front following a penalty corner and ripped her shot home to knot the contest at 1-1.
LC, which owned a 24-5 advantage in shots, added an insurance goal in the 55th minute.
Shenandoah goalkeeper Isabella Morande had 15 saves to keep the game close.
Lynchburg also took 17 of the game's 24 corners.
SU is back in action on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. ODAC contest at Eastern Mennonite.
