WINCHESTER, Va.- Visiting Eastern Mennonite used a strong first half to earn a 3-1 ODAC men's soccer victory Tuesday afternoon over Shenandoah.
Eastern Mennonite (10-6, 4-5 ODAC) scored in the fourth and 22nd minutes to take a lead it would not relinquish versus the Hornets (2-15-1, 0-8-1).
The Royals received goals from Dave Drafton in the fourth minute and Caleb Oakes in the 22nd to put the game away.
In the 58th minute, Sam Natkin connected with Brian Maye to cut the deficit in half for the hosts. For Maye, it was his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Shenandoah was awarded a free kick with 18 minutes remaining in the game but could not capitalize on the scoring opportunity.
The Royals put one more in the back of the net in the 88th minute of the game with a David Shafer goal off a Daniel Obour assist.
EMU outshot SU 18-15. Ben Chisum and Maye led the Hornets with two shots on goal each.
Sam Fischer came up with four saves for SU in the season finale.
This concludes the Hornets season. The 2018 schedule will be released in January.
