Bridgewater Slides Past Hockey

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Host Bridgewater College made an early second half goal stand up Saturday night in a 1-0 ODAC field hockey victory over Shenandoah.

The win gives Bridgewater (7-10, 4-3 ODAC) the fourth seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament over the Hornets (9-8, 3-4) and means SU travels to Bridgewater Tuesday night for a quarterfinal round contest.

The winner of that game advances to Friday's semi-final at No. 1 Washington and Lee.

Meghan Obaugh scored that goal for the Eagles in the 43rd minute, redirecting Tessa Tierson's shot into the upper corner for the lone tally of the game.

Shenandoah, which dominated possession with 16 of the game's 24 shots and nine of the 11 corners, had nine of its shots and seven corners following the Obaugh goal but could not get the equalizer.

BC goalkeeper Ali Bishop had seven of her 11 saves with her team holding that one-goal lead.

Hornets goalkeeper Jenna Rampale had two saves.
