WINCHESTER, Va. -  Visiting Emory and Henry earned a 64-40 ODAC women's basketball victory over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon.

The win gives E&H (15-6, 9-3 ODAC) a sweep of the season series over Shenandoah (4-17, 1-11).

After the two teams traded the lead twice in the opening three minutes of the contest, Emory & Henry reeled off an 8-0 run in a span of 2:03 to take a lead it would not relinquish.

Mary Severin ended the Wasps run with a layup off the press break at 4:34 only to see E&H score the final five points of the quarter to take a 15-5 lead after one.

Emory & Henry scored the initial eight points of the second and 14 of the first 19 to extend its lead out to 29-10 by the 6:10 mark. Sarah Donley and Olivia Callan had the Hornets buckets in that run with Callan draining a '3' at 6:43.

Trailing 31-13 with 4:08 remaining in the second, Shenandoah began its comeback on a Kirstyn Arcata 3-pointer with 3:30 left. Arcata's '3', one of three she had on the afternoon, started a 17-9 run for the Hornets that sandwiched halftime.

Unfortunately for the home crowd, E&H answered with a 17-0 spurt to push its lead back out to 27 points by the middle of the fourth.

The two teams began to empty their respective benches at this point and Shenandoah scored 10 of the game's final 17 points to fall by the 24-point margin.

Arcata paced the hosts with 13 points and five rebounds. SU shot 26 percent (14 of 54) to 47 percent for the Wasps. E&H also had a 42-30 advantage on the glass.

Aubriana Peebles led the visitors with 15 points.

The Hornets continue this homestand on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. ODAC contest versus Washington and Lee.
