WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Guilford College held Shenandoah University to just seven hits in sweeping an ODAC doubleheader from the Hornets Saturday afternoon.
Guilford (17-6, 2-2 ODAC) was a 7-0 winner over the Hornets (6-10, 2-2) in the opener before taking the nightcap 8-0 in six innings.
Courtney Lackey (8-3) threw a four-hit shutout in game one and Makayla Carver (4-2) tossed a three-hit shutout in the nightcap.
Lindsay Corbin, Haley Koeninger and Janae Hester, the 3-4-5 hitters in the SU lineup, had three of the Hornets four hits in game one. Kirsten Weadon, who pinch hit in the seventh, had the other hit.
Katherine Seidl (3-5) took the game one loss. She allowed five runs on nine hits and one walk in 5.0 innings. Seidl struck out one before turning it over to Kayla O'Connell for the sixth and seventh.
Carrie Robinson (2-1) was the game two loser. She allowed eight runs (four earned) on seven hits and five walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Breanne Smith had all three of the game two hits.
Shenandoah is back in action at home on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. ODAC doubleheader versus Eastern Mennonite.
