FREDERICK, Md. – It was all Shenandoah Friday afternoon as the field hockey team dominated Hood College in a 10-0 non-league road victory.
Maddie Lamarca tallied the opening goal for the Hornets (1-0) just 1:44 in and SU would coast from there over the Blazers (0-1).
Taylor Hayes and Melissa DeiTos both had two goals in the first half with Maddie Baker scoring twice in the second half for coach Ashley Smeltzer-Kraft.
Megan Stevens also had a pair of goals, scoring at 26:26 of the first and 40:10 in the second.
Seven different women found their way onto the scoresheet; DeiTos and Hayes each had two goals and an assist for five points.
Morgan Payne tallied a game-high three assists for the victors.
Shenandoah took all 35 of the game's shots and had a 21-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Goalkeepers Jenna Rampale and Isabella Morande did not have to make a save to share the shutout.
"It was a great start to the season with contributions from every person on the team," Smeltzer-Kraft said.
SU opens up its home slate on Sunday with a 1:00 game versus Washington and Jefferson.
