McDaniel Slips Past Women's Soccer

SALISBURY, Md. – McDaniel made a first half goal stand up in a 1-0 non-league women's soccer victory over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon at the Salisbury Tournament.

Kristen Gibson scored unassisted in the 38th minute for the Green Terror for what proved to be the lone goal of the contest.

The two teams were very evenly matched on the field, with McDaniel holding slight, 14-12 and 4-3, advantages in shots and corner kicks, respectively.

Hornets goalkeeper Charlotte Evans had five saves to keep her side in it.

Despite the loss, SU coach Liz Pike was very positive following the contest. "It was a fantastic weekend against two quality teams," Pike said. "This team has shown great promise for an exciting season.

"I also thought Michelle Krause played an excellent game in the back."

Shenandoah opens up its home slate on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. non-league game versus Franklin & Marshall.
