Men's Soccer Claws 'Cats in OT

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team recorded its sixth win of the season Wednesday night with a 2-1 ODAC victory in overtime over Randolph College.

William Majano ripped his shot from 15-yards out eight minutes into sudden victory overtime into the top right corner to give SU (6-8-1, 3-5 ODAC) the win over the WildCats (4-7-3, 3-5-1).

IN BRIEF

Majano had both of the Hornets goals as he tied it thanks to a Chance Hollins assist in the 72nd minute.

Randolph had taken the early lead with a goal 21 minutes in.

The sixth win of the season gives SU its best record since the 2007 season. With one more victory, Shenandoah can have its best record since a seven-win season in 2004.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SU (6-8-1, 3-5)

72′ | Chance Hollins played the ball to the center of the pitch. William Majano collected the ball from 25 yards out and his shot was placed perfectly inside the right post to tie the game up 1-1.

98′ | Majano nets the game-winner by taking an Andres Garces feed and ripping his shot just under the crossbar for the game-winner.

RAND (4-7-3, 3-5-1)

21′ | Adam Watson sent a ball into the box where Gunnar Copelan was able to finish to give Randolph a 1-0 lead.

QUOTES FROM COACH

"This was an exciting win," head coach Matt Smith said. "We had never won against Randolph before and a lot of people did not expect us to win tonight either. New players emerged as we played eight freshmen. William Majano had a great game, he tied it up for us and his goal gave us the OT win."
