Royals Top Men's Soccer

HARRISONBURG, Va. -  The Shenandoah University men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Eastern Mennonite in ODAC action Tuesday night.

The Royals (5-5-1, 3-1-0 ODAC) used a free kick in the 30th minute of the match to defeat the Hornets (3-7-1,0-4-0).  

HOW IT HAPPENED

30′ | A Shenandoah foul set up Caleb Oakes to score the lone goal of the game. Oakes' goal was scored off of the free kick.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah plays again on Saturday, October 6t at 7:00 p.m. against Guilford College. This is the last weekend home match for the Hornets and the seniors will be honored prior to the game.

MATCH NOTES

  • EMU doubled up SU on shots 10-5.

  • Four of Shenandoah's shots were on goal.

  • William Majano recorded a team high two shots, both were on goal.

  • Sam Fischer came up with two saves on the night including a big 1-on-1 save in the 88th minute.

  • The Royals edged the Hornets in corners 9-5.

  • The match saw 18 fouls and one yellow card per school.

  • The two programs have met 19 times after tonight and SU has not beaten EMU since 2010.
