Generals Defeat Women's Soccer

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah fell to Washington and Lee 4-2 in an ODAC women's soccer match Friday night.

Shenandoah (6-5, 2-1 ODAC) had the first goal of the evening, but the Generals (6-2-2, 3-1-1) went on to tally four unanswered to earn the ODAC victory. Maiya Pencile closed out the scoring fo the Hornets.

HOW IT HAPPENED

04′ | Shannen de Leon played the ball up the center of the field for Emily Yergin. Yergin beat a defender and the goalie with her shot to the left post.

77′ | Yergin sent a cross from the right side of the goal to Maiya Pencile who put her shot inside the far post.

W&L

10′ | Washington & Lee tied the game up 1-1 with a Sydney von Rosenberg goal. Von Rosenberg beat two Hornet defenders but her initial shot hit the post, she was able to collect the loose ball and bury it into the back of the net on her second attempt.

15′ | Megan Engeland scored off of a penalty kick after the Hornets committed a foul inside the box.

43′ | Megan Engeland scored off of a corner, Sydney von Rosenberg was credited with the assist.  

71′ | Engeland and von Rosenberg connected again to give the Generals a 4-1 lead.

"We fought hard tonight," head coach Liz Pike said. "This was a disappointing loss. We are moving on to Randolph-Macon."
