Men's Lax Wins in Overtime

READING, Pa. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team earned its second win of the season Wednesday afternoon with a 9-8 overtime victory at Albright College.

Junior Ryan Schott scored the game-winning goal for the Hornets (2-2) with three seconds remaining in overtime.

Schott's tally, his seventh of the season, completed a three-goal comeback for SU.

Albright (1-2) led by three goals on two occasions, the second at 7-4 with 12:08 remaining in the third period.

Coach Tim Marshall's club knotted the game at 7-7 by the close of the period thanks to Eric Sawyer, Kyle Morien and Orlando Levins goals, and took an 8-7 lead 2:19 into the fourth thanks to Schott's first goal of the game.

The Lions sent the game into overtime on a goal with 5:03 remaining in regulation.

Shenandoah had two shots on goal before the end of regulation while Albright took the first two shots on goal in the sudden victory overtime.

Hornets goalkeeper Jason Simpson, who finished with 15 saves, made stops on both of those Lions shots in OT to give Schott the chance to play the hero.

There were four ties and two lead changes in the game. The two teams were knotted at 3-3, 7-7 and 8-8 before Schott tallied the game-winner.

Schott finished the game with two goals and two assists while Michael Brooks added two goals and one assist.

Shenandoah had a 36-30 advantage in shots and 38-37 in groundballs.

Albright won 12-of-20 at the faceoff 'x'.

"This was a good win for us," Marshall said. "We played disciplined lacrosse and shot the ball much better in the second half. We will use this win to continue to grow and improve."

SU continues this road trip on Saturday with a non-league game at Elizabethtown.
