GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team earned its 10th win of the season Saturday with an 18-9 ODAC victory over Guilford College.
The ODAC victory means that SU (10-5, 4-2 ODAC) has reached the 10-win mark for the sixth time in head coach Lindsey Lutz' 10-year tenure at Shenandoah.
The Hornets led wire-to-wire, scoring the first three goals of the game before Guilford (6-9, 1-6) was able to answer with a man-up goal at the 23:30 mark.
After the Quakers were able to cut their deficit to one goal on two occasions, the second at 4-3, Shenandoah reeled off four straight to take an 8-3 lead with 12:14 left in the first half.
SU would hold at least a five-goal lead the rest of the way.
Leading 10-5 at halftime, Lutz' club scored the initial five goals of the second half in just 6:54 to trigger the running clock.
GC would then score four of the final seven goals of the contest.
Jordyn Miller and Alyson Bittinger led the victors with four goals each with Abby Zorrilla adding three goals and one assist and Cassie Arndt three goals.
Bittinger had what proved to be the game-winning goal on an unassisted tally with exactly seven minutes remaining in the first half.
Shenandoah outshot the Quakers 34-18, won 22-of-28 draws and had a 22-15 advantage in groundballs.
Hornets goalkeepers Maddie Albornoz and Gionna Maria made a combined six saves.
SU hosts Bridgewater on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. ODAC contest.
