Lynchburg Tops Men's Lax

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team completed its season Wednesday evening with a 21-3 ODAC loss at Lynchburg College.

Lynchburg (9-7, 6-2) broke a 1-1 tie by scoring 14 straight goals to complete the first half and cruised to the win over Shenandoah (7-9, 3-6).

Junior Michael Brooks had tied the game at 1-1 on an unassisted goal at 8:45 of the first, but it was all Lynchburg following that tally.

LC re-took the lead 39 seconds later before building an 8-1 lead by the end of the first.

The hosts scored all seven of the second quarter goals, both tallies in the third and the initial goal of the fourth before Brooks snapped the visitor's scoreless draught by scoring unassisted with 7:10 to play.

Lynchburg answered with its final three goals before Ryan Schott set up Joseph Franchi with 2:43 remaining.

Jason Simpson made 10 saves in the first half with Michael Beutel adding one stop over the final 30 minutes.

LC outshot SU 53-14, won 17-of-28 faceoffs and grabbed 35 of the game's 60 groundballs.

Shenandoah will announce its 2019 schedule in late summer.
