FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah University field hockey team saw its five-match winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon with a 4-3 non-league loss at Mary Washington.
Shenandoah (6-2) scored the game's initial goal, on an unassisted Taylor Hayes tally in the 16th minute, only to see UMW (5-2) score three straight goals to take a lead it would not relinquish.
SU scored two of the final three goals of the game.

"Today was a really good test for us," SU head coach Ashley Smeltzer-Kraft said. "It was our fourth road game in a row and despite the loss, we battled the entire game. We are looking forward to returning home tomorrow and finishing off the weekend strong."
