Saints Shut Out Volleyball

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's volleyball team dropped the inaugural match at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center Wednesday night with a 3-0 non-league loss to Marymount University.

Marymount (4-1) won at 8, 17 and 15 over the Hornets (1-2).

IN BRIEF

The Saints scored 14 of the first 20 points of the match and cruised to the 25-8 victory in the opening set as they hit .250 while SU had six kills and six errors in 37 set one attacks.

This pattern continued in the second as MU led 13-6 before finishing with the 25-17 win. SU hit .059 (8-6-34) with Marymount posting a match-high .333 on 15 kills against four errors in 33 attempts.

In the third, the Saints led 19-8 before Shenandoah scored six of the next seven points of the match to cut the deficit to 20-15.  Marymount answered with a 5-0 run to close out the victory.

Sabrina Semo led the hosts with six kills with Nicole Shannon posting 16 digs.

UP NEXT

SU is back at it on Saturday in a tri-match at PSU-Harrisburg. The Hornets face Wilkes in addition to the host Lions.
