WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 9 Randolph-Macon completed a sweep of the ODAC regular season men's basketball series with a 96-76 win Wednesday night at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center.
Shenandoah (5-15, 1-10 ODAC) took its only lead on a Harry Wall 3-pointer 47 seconds into the contest, but it was all Macon (19-2, 11-1) after.
The Yellow Jackets took the lead for good on a Corey Bays 3-pointer at 18:06, which started a 14-2 run, and never looked back.
IN BRIEF
Macon shot 55 percent (17-of-31) in the first half with nine of its field goals coming on shots beyond the arc. R-MC used that hot shooting to take a 49-31 lead at the break and to off-set a 21-14 Shenandoah advantage on the boards.
Junior Jalyn Jarrett paced the Hornets in that opening stanza with 11 points in 14 minutes of action.
The 'Jackets had two players: Luke Neeley and Jon Nowell, hit in double figures in the first.
The second half brought more of the same as Macon shot 58 percent (19-of-33) and had an additional five 3-pointers.
Jarrett led the Hornets in scoring with 20 points while Christopher Chaney added 16 with 10 rebounds and Alan Dabney 13 points.
This is the first time in 12 games that Chaney has not been the hosts' leading scorer.
