SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – National power Augsburg University pulled away from Shenandoah University Friday in a 72-60 non-league men's basketball victory at the Puerto Rico Clasico Friday.

Augsburg (6-2) outscored the Hornets (3-6) by seven-points in the second half to register the win in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

With the game tied at 32-32 following an
Ethan Diffee layup with 1:59 remaining in the first, the Auggies reeled off an 11-1 run that bridged halftime to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Harry Wall snapped this string by hitting three consecutive from the line at the 16:27 mark of the second, but the damage was done. Shenandoah would get no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Another Augsburg run, this one 13-5 over a span of 4:45, allowed the Auggies to coast home to the victory. AU led by 17, 70-53, at the end of this run.

The Hornets closed out the contest by scoring seven of the game's final nine points.
