WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team opened up its season Tuesday afternoon with a 14-3 non-league loss to No. 8 Mary Washington.
Mary Washington (2-0) scored the game's first three goals before sophomore Alyson Bittinger tallied on a free position shot with 9:05 to play in the first for Shenandoah (0-1).
IN BRIEF
The Eagles, who opened the 2019 season Saturday with a 10-8 victory over No. 13 Washington and Lee, took an 7-1 halftime lead over the Hornets thanks to four goals in the final 6:23 of the stanza.
UMW tallied the first five goals of the second before the two teams split the game's final four goals.
Kaitlyn Morris and Cassie Arndt scored for SU on a pair of free position shots. For Morris, it was her first collegiate goal.
